Recharge Focus Report
Since 2005, Local Authorities have been undertaking efforts to improve their internal waste management and reduce internal waste arisings. In previous work, re-charge mechanisms, the internal billing arrangements for the provision of waste services, were identified as a key factor to the successful, or otherwise, uptake of internal recycling programmes.

Scottish Recycling Study
Remade Scotland was asked to provide a projected national overview and summary of Scotland’s recycling percentage and performance against the LAS targets in 2010 and 2013 based on Councils firm plans.

Local Authority Internal Waste Management - Best Practice Focus Report: Print Managment Schemes
This Focus Report examines Print Management Schemes as a means of minimising paper waste generation as well as delivering savings in terms of reduced print consumables and energy consumption within Local Authorities. The report draws on the experience of Fife Council in implementing their Print08 project. This is the first in a series of focus reports being developed by Remade Scotland to support Local Authorities who are examining how to improve internal waste management and bring about waste minimisation.

LARS Needs Assessment
The Local Authority Research and Support (LARS) programme, was established following discussions with the Scottish Government and COSLA that revealed that there may be areas of information, research or support, which have so far not been identified, or require further research and which could assist Councils, individually or collectively, in achieving the recycling targets.

This Report provides an update and overview of current Local Authority progress on reducing internal waste production, and maximising recycling. The information was gathered from telephone interviews, a short questionnaire hosted on Zoomerang and a seminar in March 2009.

A review of guidance, strategies, policies and implemetation of sustainable procurement practices in Scottish local authorities was made showing a real need for training in all members of the purchasing team.
