Remade Scotland is a major initiative, funded by the Scottish Government which seeks to stimulate, develop and strengthen recyclate material markets in Scotland.

Established in 1999 by key stakeholders in the public and private sector in a unique partnership, Remade Scotland was the first market development programme in the UK and has been assisting both Local Authorities and the Waste Industry for 10 years in the delivery of successful, cost effective and sustainable solutions.

As part of the Scottish Government's Zero Waste Scotland initiative, Remade works in partnership with two other delivery programmes, Waste Aware Scotland (WAS) and WRAP, to assist Scotland achieve its ambitious recycling targets. The programme for 2009/10 incorporates a range of activities Covering

  • Waste Prevention
  • Recycling, Recovery & Composting
  • Process, Product & Manufacturing

However one of the highest priorites for Remade Scotland this year is to provide support to Councils to assist them evaluate and optimise their recycling schemes in order to achieve the 40% Recycling Rate for 2010.

Zero Waste Scotland partnership at Futuresource 2009

Scotland’s leading players in the field of sustainable waste management joined forces at this years CIWM Futuresource conference under the banner of 'Zero Waste Scotland'. Representatives from Scottish Government, the Scottish Environment Protection Agency, Scottish local authorities, Waste Aware Scotland, WRAP Scotland, Remade Scotland and Scotland’s economic development agencies were on hand to meet delegates at a dedicated Zero Waste Scotland exhibition area.
